These terms govern your use of the Plume macOS application and this website, provided by Amo Per La Vita LLC ("we," "us"). By downloading or using Plume, you agree to them.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Plume
on Macs you own or control, for personal or business use. You may not resell, redistribute,
rent, or sublicense the app, or misrepresent it as your own work.
How Plume gets its AI
The app is free. Cleaning your words up needs a model, and there are two ways to pay for
that: Plume Plus, where we supply it, or your own API key, where you do.
Plume Plus
Price and renewal. Plume Plus is US$5 per month, or US$50 per year if
you choose the annual plan at checkout. Either renews automatically at the end of its
term until you cancel.
Free trial. Plume Plus begins with a 7-day free trial, on both the
monthly and the annual plan. A payment method is collected at checkout and nothing is
charged during the trial; the first charge is taken on day 8 unless you cancel before
then. On the monthly plan that first charge is US$5; on the annual plan it is
US$50. You can cancel at any point during the trial and pay nothing. The trial
is available once per customer: if you have already trialled Plume Plus on either plan,
a new subscription begins billing straight away.
Changing plan. You can move between monthly and annual at any time from
the customer portal. The new plan starts immediately and is invoiced immediately, less any
time you have already paid for and not yet used. Changing plan while you are still
in a free trial ends that trial, and the new plan is charged in full. Your
subscription is replaced rather than duplicated — you are never billed for both.
Failed payments. If a payment fails we retry it, and your access
continues for a short grace period — currently two days — before Plus is
suspended. The app itself keeps working throughout, as described below.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from the customer portal linked in
your confirmation email. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not retroactively
refund the current period, and your subscription stays active until that period ends.
Refunds. If Plume Plus is not what you expected, email
support@plumepen.com within 14 days of a charge
and we will refund it. We may decline repeated refunds on the same account.
Fair use. Plus includes a generous monthly allowance — up to 3,000 polished
dictations a month — around 100 a day — with a short-term rate limit to prevent
abuse. Very long dictations use more
of the allowance than short ones. If you
reach it, Plume keeps typing for you with local tidying and the allowance resets at the
start of the next month. We will tell you before changing these limits in a way that
affects normal use.
If your subscription lapses. The app is yours and keeps working. Your
history, dictionary, and settings stay on your Mac. Clear the Plus key in Settings and
paste your own API key to restore full polish, or keep dictating with basic on-device
tidying.
Payments and tax. Payments are processed by Polar Software Inc., which
acts as the merchant of record and is the seller for the transaction. Polar handles
billing, invoices, and any applicable sales tax or VAT, under
its own terms.
Charges appear on your statement under Polar or Amo Per La Vita LLC.
Where your text goes on Plus. Your transcript, with your dictionary and style, is sent
to our relay, which passes it to Anthropic and stores nothing. See the
Privacy Policy for detail.
Your own AI provider account
Plume also works with an API key you obtain from an AI provider of your choice — Anthropic,
OpenAI, or Google. Your relationship with that provider is your own: you are responsible
for your account, your API usage costs, and complying with your provider's terms of
service.
Plume sends your transcribed text to your chosen provider to clean it up. The quality,
availability, and pricing of those services belong to the provider, not to us.
Use Plume responsibly
Plume types polished text wherever your cursor is. You are responsible for reviewing
what you send, post, or submit — especially anywhere consequential.
Don't use Plume to break the law, to violate others' rights, or to circumvent the
acceptable-use policies of your AI provider.
No warranty
Plume is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind,
express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and
non-infringement. Speech recognition and AI cleanup can make mistakes; we don't warrant
that output will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Amo Per La Vita LLC will not be liable for any
indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages — including lost
profits, lost data, or messages sent in error — arising from your use of Plume. Our total
liability for any claim will not exceed the greater of US$50 or the amount you paid us for
Plume in the twelve months before the claim.
Updates and changes
Plume may install updates automatically to keep itself current and secure. We may modify
or discontinue the app or these terms at any time; material changes will be reflected on
this page with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to
conflict-of-law rules.
